10 VSCode themes you probably never heard of

- 2 min

Every blog presently focused on development or technology, at one time or another, will possibly have an article commenting on the 10 best themes for VSCode for the current year.

This list is usually composed of the same 10 themes or some variant of them: Dracula, Material, SynthWave '84, Nord, Gruvbox, Night Owl, Monokai Pro, One Dark Pro, Palenight or Shades of Purple. Okay, now that you know what to find in 80% of these articles, stay here for a while and see some other themes that you may never have heard of. Here, I focus on dark themes.

Lucy

Lucy

Perhaps the most downloaded of this list, Lucy is a theme with no description. The author is quite direct like that. It looks like One Dark, but with more focus on pastel colors.

Celestial

Celestial

Celestial is a darker version of the Horizon theme.

Umbra

Umbra

A theme inspired by Bear, a markdown notes app, in its dark version. I used this theme for quite a while.

Orion Dark

Orion Dark

No colors to call cold. None at all.

Spirited Away

Spirited Away

This is a theme inspired by the colors of scenes of the anime with same name.

Contrast

Contrast

It was inspired by the theme 1337, and originally created for Sublime Text. The colors are almost pure, but they don't cry for attention too much.

Crayon

Crayon

This theme is for those who don't like very saturated colors.

Twilight

Twilight

Twilight is the iconic theme from the Textmate text editor. This theme was a transcription of the theme for VSCode. I used it for a long time, for its simplicity and discretion.

Framer Dark

Framer Dark

The Framer Dark theme emulates the Framer application syntax and interface theme.

Sobrio

Sobrio

This topic you probably never heard of, and the reason is very simple: I made it!

This is the color scheme that I use today and developed by me, first for NeoVim, which is the editor I use now, and later adapted for VSCode. The result was very pleasant in my opinion and I invite you to test it as soon as you finish reading this article!

That's it for this article, folks. If you like any of the themes, install it and give the creator a good rating to support their work. See you!
